Valentino Rossi is back

SILVERSTONE - MotoGP musim 2012 terkesan monoton karena Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha Factory Racing) dan Casey Stoner (Repsol Honda) mendominasi daftar pemenang lima lomba yang telah berlangsung. Karena itu, saat Valentino Rossi, juara dunia sembilan kali, finis kedua pada MotoGP Prancis, banyak pihak berharap akan muncul juara baru.

Sayang, kehebatan Rossi di Prancis ternyata disebabkan faktor hujan. dalam lomba di lintasan kering pada seri berikutnya, The Doctor tidak bisa kembali naik podium.

Nah, harapan kehebatan Rossi muncul lagi datang di MotoGP Inggris. Dalam sesi latihan hari pertama kemarin (15/6), Rossi sempat tercepat saat sesi latihan pertama. Seperti halnya di Prancis, Sirkuit Silverstone yang menjadi host MotoGP Inggris juga diguyur hujan saat sesi latihan pertama.

Tidak hanya sesi pagi hari, pada sesi siang hari pun hujan turun. Bahkan sesi dipersingkat karena hujan yang terlalu deras. Besar kemungkinan pada kualifikasi hari ini dan loba besok hujan juga akan turun.  

Di sesi kedua itu, Stoner mencatatkan waktu terbaik 2 menit 04,791 detik. Saat itu, lintasan Sirkuit Silverstone kering hanya di beberapa bagian masih basah. Sebuah keuntungan besar bagi kubu Honda, karena di sesi pertama yang berlangsung di lintasan basah, tak satu pun pembalap Honda di tiga besar.

Sukses Stoner menjadi yang tercepat membuat kubu Honda bisa bernapas lega.  Sebab, Honda tak memiliki pembalap yang tangguh di kondisi hujan. Ingat, saat Rossi jadi runner-up di Le Mans, Prancis, pembalap Italia itu mengalahkan Stoner dalam pertarungan yang sengit. Padahal, hingga saat ini Ducati Desmosedici GP12 tak kunjung mampu menandingi kecepatan Honda atau Yamaha dalam kondisi lintasan normal atau kering.

Di sesi latihan kedua itu, Stoner mengalahkan catatan waktu tercepat yang dicatatkan pembalap Yamaha Factory Ben Spies. Selisihnya sangat tipis, hanya 0,034 detik. Sementara pimpinan klasemen sementara Jorge Lorenzo malah terpuruk dan hanya menempati posisi ketujuh.

Dalam sesi berdurasi 45 menit yang berlangsung di lintasan kering ini, Ducati gagal menunjukkan performa bagus seperti pada latihan pertama yang berlangsung dalam kondisi basah. Nicky Hayden, yang terbaik bagi Ducati di latihan ini, berada di posisi keempat, sedangkan Rossi, yang tercepat pada latihan pertama, terpuruk di urutan ke-11.

Hayden berada di antara dua pembalap satelit Honda, yaitu Alvaro Bautista (Honda Gresini) di posisi ketiga dan Stefan Bradl (LCR Honda) di urutan kelima. Sedangkan pembalap satelit Tech 3 Yamaha, Andrea Dovizioso, ada di urutan keenam, serta rekan setimnya sendiri, Cal Crutchlow di posisi kedelapan.

Pembalap Repsol Honda lainnya, Dani Pedrosa, harus puas di urutan kesembilan. Sementara itu, pembalap Pramac Ducati, Hector Barbera, melengkapi komposisi 10 besar sesi terakhir kemarin.

Sementara itu, balapan di Silverstone tak akan diikuti seluruh peserta reguler MotoG 2012. Satu pembalap dipastikan tak akan mengikuti balapan, yaitu pembalap Cardion Ducati Karel Abraham. Pembalap asal Republik Ceko itu mengalami cedera pada tangan kirinya.

"Dokter mengeluarkan rekomendasi supaya saya tidak membalap. Tulang yang patah bisa mengalami dislokasi dan operasi harus dilakukan. Karena itu kami tak mau ambil risiko," ungkap Abraham. (ady/ang)
