The rumors are true, after all: AMA standout Ben Bostrom will make his MotoGP debut this weekend at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, riding as a wild-card entry for LCR Honda as a teammate to Toni Elias.
Some may remember that this is not 155's first go at a Wild Card at Laguna Seca.
Bostrom also will continue his regular gig aboard a Michael Jordan Motorsports Suzuki in the DMG Superbike race at Laguna, pulling double duty.
There's probably no better spot for Bostrom to step into the world spotlight than Laguna, his home track. The Californian has won five times in AMA competition in the hills of Monterey, starting with his bombshell, breakout win as a Vance and Hines Ducati wild card rider at Laguna WSBK in 1999. His teammate, Anthony Gobert won race one that weekend, making it a full on Vance and Hines Ducati steamroll.
LCR Honda is recruiting an American rider for its MotoGP bike for the second straight year. Bostrom's Michael Jordan Motorsports teammate, Roger Lee Hayden, substituted for the injured Randy De Puniet last year at Laguna.
In his very first Superbike race at Laguna Seca Bostrom started it all with fireworks: the RC45-mounted Californian rammed Mat Mladin as the pair raced into turn eleven.
